Quick answer
Clean your Rockwell 6S after every shave with warm water and a soft brush, then do a deeper disassembly and soak every few weeks to prevent soap scum and mineral buildup.
Why regular maintenance matters
The Rockwell 6S is built from stainless steel, so it resists rust far better than chrome-plated zamak razors. But soap residue, hard water minerals, and dried lather can still clog the blade gap, reduce shaving efficiency, and dull the finish over time.
If you own the Limited Edition 24-karat Gold-plated Rockwell 6S, the gold layer is more delicate than raw stainless. Abrasive cleaners or scrubbing pads can wear it away, so you need gentler methods.
What you will need
A soft toothbrush or dedicated razor brush, mild dish soap, white vinegar for deep mineral removal, a microfiber cloth, and a small bowl or cup for soaking.
Step-by-step cleaning routine
- Rinse and brush after every shave: Remove the blade carefully. Rinse all parts under warm running water. Use a soft toothbrush to gently scrub the head, base plate, and handle, especially inside the knurling and blade alignment pins where lather hides. Never let lather dry on the razor—dried soap is harder to remove and can trap bacteria.
- Deep clean every 2–4 weeks: Disassemble the razor completely. Soak all metal parts in a bowl of warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 10 minutes. For hard water spots, add a splash of white vinegar. Scrub gently with the brush, rinse thoroughly, and dry with a microfiber cloth. Do not soak the razor for more than 20 minutes in vinegar—prolonged acid exposure can dull the finish, especially on gold-plated models.
- Dry and store properly: After cleaning, pat each part dry with a soft cloth and let them air-dry completely before reassembling. Store the razor in a dry area away from humidity—a stand or open case works better than a closed drawer. Trapped moisture between the handle and head is the most common cause of corrosion on any safety razor, even stainless steel.
Product spotlight
- Limited Edition 24-karat Gold-plated Rockwell 6S: Crafted from pure stainless steel and coated with 24-karat gold, this limited edition razor blends the durability of our best-selling Rockwell 6S with an elevated, luxurious finish. The gold plating is beautiful but requires non-abrasive cleaning to avoid scratching the finish—standard stainless care with a soft brush is safe, but avoid metal polishes or scrubbing pads.
